Our Commitment to Net Zero

A Star Care Agency Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions across our operations by 2050, in line with the UK Government's legally binding target. We recognise that as a care provider operating in people's homes and communities, we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver outstanding care.

As a growing provider, we are in the process of establishing a full emissions baseline. The figures below represent our estimated emissions for the period April 2024 to March 2025.

Reduce total emissions by 30% against our 2024/25 baseline.

By 2035

Reduce total emissions by 60% against our 2024/25 baseline.

By 2050

Achieve Net Zero across all scopes of emissions.

What We Are Doing

Right now

  • Transitioning to a 100% renewable energy tariff for our office.
  • Reducing paper use across all operations through our Birdie digital care management platform.
  • Encouraging staff to use public transport and cycle schemes.
  • Procuring supplies from suppliers with sustainability credentials.
  • Conducting annual carbon audits to improve our data.

Over the next decade

  • Transitioning any company vehicles to electric or hybrid alternatives.
  • Specifying energy efficiency requirements when procuring supported living properties.
  • Embedding carbon criteria into supplier and subcontractor selection.
  • Publishing annual progress reports each April.

By 2050

  • Achieving Net Zero across all scopes including our full supply chain.
  • Engaging with sector bodies on collective decarbonisation across the care sector.

Responsibility for this plan sits with our Director, Khadijatou Francess Jagne. We review and update this plan annually to ensure our targets and actions remain on track.
